I have never left a museum feeling the way I did this morning. I am usually speechless, at first, when I am moved by a film, a book, or an exhibition. I try to gather my thoughts and articulate my feelings. But instead here I knew exactly how I felt: I had just seen the most beautiful fashion exhibition ever. Let me clarify, Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty is the most poetic, beautiful, sad, and breathtaking exhibition that I have ever seen. It is a spectacular theatrical production filled with film, music, and the most incredible fashion. I did not want it to end. And when it did end, I felt like I just experienced something great. This feeling stayed with me for the rest of the day. This exhibition is a must see for fashion lovers and aspiring designers, hopefully the latter will be stimulated by McQueen’s superior craftsmanship and an imagination so rich and vibrant that living among the ordinary was just impossible.
I almost did not post these shots from the exhibition because I did not want to ruin the surprise for anyone who is planning to see it. However I then quickly realized that not everyone will have an opportunity to travel to New York and see the show. So for those of you unable to come to NY, here is a look at Savage Beauty…
“There is no way back for me now. I am going to take you on a journey you’ve never dreamed were possible.” –Alexander McQueen
A full review of the exhibition will follow in a few days. Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty will be on view from May 4-July 31, 2011 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute.
Cant wait for the full review !
