Art Salon Series: “Collecting Currently”: Collecting in Design Thursday, April 29, 2010 7–8:30 p.m. Brooklyn Museum of Art Martha A. and Robert S. Rubin Pavilion, 1st Floor
In this informal two-part course on how to become a savvy art collector, you can enjoy a glass of wine while learning from dealers, collectors, curators, designers, and consultants. At this session, participants will gain insight into the collecting of design objects ranging from industrial to contemporary pieces. Moderated by Ellen Lupton, curator of contemporary design at Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum, the session’s panel includes Vladimir Kagan, an acclaimed furniture designer and the owner of Vladmir Kagan Design Group; Leyden Lewis, an interior and architectural designer, art collecting consultant, and the founder and creative director of Leyden Lewis Design Studio; and Suzanne Slesin, a design editor and the founder of Pointed Leaf Press.
Registration is $20 per session ($15 for Members) or $36 for both sessions ($28 for Members). A complimentary glass of wine is included. Wine bar opens at 6:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online or in person at the Museum’s Visitor Center.
