Last week the Times of London printed a list of the 50 of the worlds best design blogs. The blogs featured are rather diverse but I find that most of them are great as DIY inspirations (the author of the article admits that the blogs mostly focus on interiors). My favorite blog was not listed so I would like to add number 51 to the list: Aesthete’s Lament.
Self- described as a style blog, I find it to be so much more than just that. The author of the blog does have great style, but also a wonderful sense of humor and a real passion for art and design history. The last few weeks the blog has been dedicated to Elsie de Wolf’s book, Recipes for Successful Dining, with the blogger cooking some of the recipes featured in the book. What I love most about the blog is that I am always pleasantly surprised by each new post which focuses on decorative arts, fashion, cooking, entertaining, art and extraordinary personalities. As the blogger writes in the brief bio, “The philosophy of this blog is to inspire you to live with more personal panache: whoever you are, whatever your income, and wherever you live, whether it’s Kansas City or Kawasaki, Japan. Living well isn’t hard. Nor does it have to cost a bundle. Trust me. It’s not your wallet; it’s your mindset.” Well said, Aesthete, I couldn’t agree with you more.
